I pledge, as the Mayor of Keystone Heights, I will support all of our organizations in the Keystone Heights and Melrose communities to to the best of my ability.
We are our peoples.
We are a community. If I can lend my voice to yours, please call me. I will help. I will do what I can to support what you are working to accomplish.
I have long enjoyed watching the growth of Seeds of Grace and Mission of the Dirt Road. I have visited, written stories for the paper and found venues for them to tell their story.
Highridge Estates is a subdivision of 500 homes mixed with single- and double-wide homes. I was invited to visit Book Bus on Friday evening and the Community Garden on Saturday morning to help raise awareness for their ongoing efforts to create a nucleus of families caring for one another.
The turnout for Book Bus was amazing. Everyone, young and old alike, can take home 5 books per visit. I loved hearing from a child she was looking for a Bible. When she announced she was looking for a Bible, a man brought over two New Testaments he had found in the bins he was looking through. Miss Teri found the young lady and gave her an option of the version she was looking for. God works through all of us, regardless of where we are in life.
On Saturday morning, I headed back to Highridge to help build a community garden. Carey and Teri were already there and I have to tell you, this is an amazing space. The pole barn has electricity. They have an irrigation system and garden beds. Teri and her husband, Eddie, built Carey a custom pulpit from used pallets.
Carey shared with me that approximately 25 people regularly attend their Sunday evening meal and her spiritual message.
God is good.
