The discussion at the board meeting last Thursday focused on new memberships and club meeting time.
SURVEY
There was concensus among members of creating a survey which would be distributed both internally to current members and externally to prospective members.
For current members, the survey would ask: What changes could the club make to add value to your membership and encourage consistent attendance?
For prospective members, the main question would be: If you could join, when would you like to meet?
The board also discussed creating a formal Orientation so that new members hear what our club does, what it expects and what it costs.
MEMBERSHIP
Chrissy introduced a Kiwanis campaign membership drive called, Two for Two. It identifies two members of the club ans asks them to reach out to two prospects each month for the next several months. By working in a team, they support each other and they quickly reach more people. A suggestion of reaching out to past members might be a way of drawing them back into membership.
MEETING DAY, TIME, LOCATION AND FREQUENCY
The board talked about doing a better job of advertising club activities through the media, the website (LakeRegionKiwanis.org) and Facebook.
Our meeting time, day, location and frequency of meetings was discussed. For example, Starke has one boarding meeting and three regular meetings per month.
FUNDRAISING
Several fundraising ideas were floated by th board. One was a Diamonds and Denim event and the other was a continuation of a Square Dancing event at the Woman's Club.
MEMORIAL DAY
AMVETS and the American Legion (in conjunction with the City of Keystone Heights staff) hosted a moving and somber service at the Keystone Cemetery today. Both veteran group spokespeople talked about the military sacrifices of the men and women in this country. They related thier individual inspirations for enlisting in their service branches. They spoke admirably about the courage and committment needed to protect our personal freedoms.
