With all of the upcoming activities, it's getting easier to ride the waves into the Christmas spirit. The magical lights of the Christmas parade, the events surrounding Christmas and the cheer imparted to children seeking Santa Claus (and more) - Merry Christmas, everyone.
KIWANIAN OF THE MONTH
President Tina S. announced Todd Beals as the Kiwanian of the Month for the month of December. His KOM sign is posted - proudly, I'm sure - in front of their business.
Todd was Co-Chair of the 3rd Annual Golf Tournament and, along with Co-Chair John, successfully landed another great golf experience for our teams of golfers.
Again, many thanks to everyone involved and especially our sponsors. We couldn't have done it without you. We're looking forward to next year.
SANTA'S HELPERS
Santa Claus moves into his heavy calendar season, meeting and greeting our community and children. If you'd like to be a Santa helper, please sign up with Patricia. Three mail boxes have been set up around town including one at the Hatch's office, Johnny's BBQ and Gator Bait in Melrose. Santa and his helpers are prepared to answer every single letter received in the mailboxes. Here's to a season of giving.
KIWANIS CHRISTMAS PARADE
The annual parade is right around the corner. Chrissy H. and her jolly team of helpers have been diligently building a parade float at Fred's house. Only the finishing touches remain. To that end, please send a self portrait to taylorjadew17@yahoo.com. The self portraits will be pasted on the backside of the store front.
On Saturday, Chrissy would like volunteers to meet at 4:30 PM to finalize those remaining details. A decision was made through a survey at the meeting of the design on the Grand Marshal's magnetic sign. The board approved it.
Todd reports that he's still waiting for the permit to close the road from FDOT.
An Afterglow event is slated at the Hatch's office directly after the parade. Marilyn is securing the hot chocolate. Those who signed up, please have your cookies ready for the event. For those who want to sign up, please see Patricia at Hatch Realty.
KIWANIS CHRISTMAS PARTY
Details are still being ironed out but what we know is that it will be held on Thursday, Dec. 15 at Clyde's Restaurant. A menu is being developed and a gift exchange and/or gift card donation is being considered. Stay tuned for more information on Thursday.
BOARD MEETING
The following actions were taken by the Board:
The Board received a thank-you card from Tina B. thanking the club for establishing a scholarship in her name.
The Board decided to use funds identified for the Clay County Tourism Visitor's Guide toward other marketing strategies. Those strategies are being developed including print ads in local papers like Neighbor to Neighbor.
One of the marketing requests was from the KHHS Athletic website. A sponsorship is $50 for a 12-month subscription. The Board decided to hold off on a decision, at this time, to see how the website takes off.
The Board decided, unanimously, to establish a line-item budget entry and host Santa Clause of Keystone Heights as one of our projects. Any donations made to Santa Clause to fulfill needs of local children will be a passed through the club bank accounts.
