Tina S. shared that she loves roller coasters. Her first roller coaster was Top Thrill Dragster and her family planned a vacation around riding this roller coaster.
Marilyn Martin recently lost her husband, her pets dog and cat. She recently went to Roland's Senior Dog Rescue and adopted a deaf Corgi named Dixie. They are learning to live together. 😊
Patricia shared she, too, had a roller coaster story. Her first job was at King's Dominion were she worked for five years at Ade in the Shade selling lemonade and corn dogs.
Tina B. said you may not know that she when she was Assistant Principal at KHES, she watched while students were being awarded Terrific Kids and she saw the joy on their faces when they walked across the stage to get the award. She asked Kiwanian Laura Dean about the program and Laura promptly announced the newest member of the Lake Region Kiwanis Club - Tina Bullock.
Karen Lake shared she'd been raised overseas growing up: 7th grade (Tripoli, Libya during Muammar Gaddafi's reign), 8th grade (Madagascar at a boarding school), 9-10th grades (London, England) and 1-12 grades (Aberdeen, Scotland).
Hank Kyle said he joined the Coast Guard in 1991 and served for four years. During that time, he went through three hurricanes at sea and visited all of the ocean stations.
Mary Ann said she was a principal when Kiwanis was an all-male club. They would leave to attend a noon meeting and she'd be the only administrator left at the school.
Mary Leigh shared that her special gift was working with special needs children for 13-14 years in public schools. She now subs - only - at Melrose Elementary.
Todd said he was enlisted in the Navy for ten years but left because he didn't want to be away from family. He and Debbie have been married 35 years.
John (Buff) shared what we might not know about him is that prior to coming to Montgomery Camp, he spent 12 years in mission work.
Sarah said she is enjoying getting more involved in community service. She looks forward to the journey.
KIWANIAN OF THE MONTH
President Tina S. announced the March Kiwanian of the Month is Hank Kyle because of the quiet way he goes about serving our club and community. Congratulations, Hank.
INDUCTION OF NEW MEMBER
Please welcome our newest Kiwanian, Sarah Hajosch. She manages the Keystone Heights branch of Ameris Bank. She said earlier in the meeting that she's really looking forward to working in the community with the club.
